Cruise passengers are not allowed outside the gated area and cannot access Haiti. Labadee does not have a swimming pool, but you are able to swim off all four beaches. There’s also an inflatable assault course often set up on the ocean, and if you book the excursion you’ll be able to have a lot of fun clambering over it. But at the same time, it’s not an asset that belongs to Royal Caribbean either – they’ve paid for the exclusive access, but they don’t own the resort. The cruise line does run the operations of the resort though, with an estimated 300 locals employed by the cruise line. Paddle a kayak along a beautiful Haiti coast onboard double kayaks that start at Columbus Cove. Weight and age restrictions apply, and you get a briefing and a waiver to sign before the activity. The ride normally lasts around 2 minutes (the longest 2 minutes in my life) and is absolutely spectacular! I did Dragon’s Breath Flight Line (seated position) and I absolutely recommend it to anyone who wants to experience some adrenaline rush and (in my case) face their fear of heights.
